THE ROLE You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where nanobiotechnology, chemistry, biophysics, material science, and diagnostics experts collaborate to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The NanoBioInteractions & NanoDiagnostics Research Unit is coordinated by Prof. Pier Paolo Pompa.
The research focuses on biomedical applications of in-house developed hybrid nanomaterials and nanozymes as well as colorimetric (nano)diagnostics.
Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:
Developing and characterizing functional nanomaterials/nanozymes for biomedical applications, from sensing to therapeutics; Exploring the action mechanisms and underlying bio-nano interactions to tune their properties and/or adapt them to different applications; Integrating the nanomaterials/nanozymes in hybrid multifunctional systems.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in Nanomedicine, Nanobiotechnology, Nanochemistry, or related disciplines; Documented experience in nanoparticle synthesis, functionalization, and characterization; Experience in nanozymes (characterization and study of their enzyme-like activities); Strong publication record; Good command of spoken and written English.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS Ability to work in a challenging and international environment; Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment; Possess analytical reasoning skills and a growth mindset.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE A yearly gross salary ranging between 30k and 33k; Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
