Postdoctoral Researcher In Astronomy
INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Brera (OAB) conducts scientific research in various areas ranging from planets to stars and galaxies, clusters of galaxies, cosmology, and technological development of astronomical instrumentation.
Researchers at the institute have leading roles in the ESA Euclid mission, a space telescope that is mapping the distribution of galaxies and dark matter to uncover the nature of dark energy and gravity.
Role Description This is a fixed-term Postdoctoral Researcher role based in Merate at INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Brera.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will lead the analysis of galaxy spectra from Euclid's NISP instrument to probe the physics of galaxy formation and evolution over cosmic time.
Qualifications Background in cosmology and galaxy formation and evolution Experience in the reduction and analysis of real or simulated multi-object/slitless spectroscopy Knowledge of Python programming and computational methods Experience in GPU programming and machine learning methods desirable Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or Engineering (or related field), or Master's degree with three years of experience.
