Reporting to the Engineering Manager, as our Power Distribution Certification Engineer, you will autonomously manage the execution of projects within the Circuit Protection segment to ensure that the certification projects are delivered on time and with the best quality and experience for our clients.

ResponsibilitiesManages certification projects for devices in the Circuit Protection segment (e. g. , Circuit Breakers, Switches, Disconnectors, Fuses, Surge Protective Devices, etc.

). Determines project specifications such as scope, cost, time, sample requirements, and technical documentation by analyzing client input, available data, and product construction. Collaborates with the Laboratory Team by preparing data sheets and instructions, scheduling and reviewing the work of Laboratory Technicians, and establishing completion dates. Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, completion dates, and explains UL procedures and requirements.

Projects may include frequent travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites. Provides technical assistance to clients in reference to product evaluations and plans review. Resolves complex engineering issues by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the field-based product evaluations. Develops test requirements for products beyond the scope of existing standards or those involving unique features requiring frequent use of independent judgment. Develops special test methods and test equipment. Determines areas in which the product may not be in compliance with the applicable Standard based requirements. Plans, conducts, and supervises code and regulatory related projects of major magnitude and scope.
