Product Development Engineer @Product Development Engineering Unit - Massa The Product Development Engineering unit within SKF Technology, with our office located in Massa, has the global Product Development Engineering responsibility of several product lines (BBU - Ball Bearing Unit, SABB - Self Aligning Ball Bearings, HTB – High Temperature Bearings, and SIS – Special Industrial Solutions) and the EMEA Product Engineering responsibility for DGBB – Deep Groove Ball Bearings, TSBB – Thin Section Ball Bearing and Agri-hub.
What you can expect in this role As Product Development Engineer within the Product Development Engineering team in Massa, you will be a part of a motivated and fast paced team that works closely with all industrial EMEA factories, with a simple yet ambitious mission: "to generate excitement for shaping vision into reality".
Our team is based in the SKF factory in Massa, where some of the product lines we are responsible for are manufactured, offering an interesting opportunity to fully experience how product specifications are impacting the manufacturing process.
Being in this exciting and central role and working with different stakeholders creates the need to handle a multitude of different tasks: our way of responding to this is to design systems/processes or automations that are tailored for our needs and allowing us to deliver the best quality with the least possible effort.
As we say: "if you have to do it more than twice, then it's time to automate it".
As Product Development Engineering team we have daily contact with PDE offices, factories, and people in SKF from all over the world.
What we are looking for We are looking for you to bring to this team your ability to transform stakeholders' inputs/requests into robust product technical documents/specifications.
There will be a variety of tasks to focus on in this role, depending on the different needs: supporting the Factory quality process department in digitalizing tolerances/specifications on the channel, working on developing and testing design rules for a brand new product range, creating new product ranges, and understanding the factories' needs, providing valuable deliverables without being sidetracked by bureaucratic procedures.
In addition, we expect you to have: University degree in Engineering or equivalent; Good understanding of basic engineering principles, bearings rotating systems; Good understanding of technical drawing rules and principles; Proactivity in taking the lead with a global problem-solving attitude; Proactivity in looking for new ways of working without passively accepting existing solutions; Proficiency in English verbal and written, as well as Italian; Open to travel if needed; Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Windchill, CREO Parametric ANSYS will be considered as a plus.
We also need you to be a motivated team player that enjoys working with others and has great interpersonal skills!

It does, however, require that you are able and willing to travel.
