General description of the company and the role SQIM co-designs with nature to develop cutting edge technologies and deliver naturally grown products with superior properties, employing fungal mycelium as its engineering and manufacturing platform, and serving its two verticals, Ephea and Mogu. SQIM sets the grounds to design a new material world that is responsibly rooted in generative processes, as it is driven by the desire to literally engage with life and for life. The resource will join the Ephea team, whose mission is to create a new class of biofabricated materials by means of fungal fermentation and to functionalize them through specific transformation processes for applications in the fashion sector and beyond. The Product Manager is responsible for defining the strategy and overseeing the development of the Ephea product family, ensuring its successful lifecycle management, from design to market distribution. This role requires a deep understanding of both the Company's operations and the Unique Selling Points of the product, as well as the needs and expectations of our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product development, industrial processes, and marketing strategies, with the ability to integrate design, industrial scalability, and customer insights into a competitive product roadmap. Responsibilities Define and refine product identity, ensuring a strong market positioning by identifying key Unique Selling Points (USPs) and areas for improvement based on deep insights from customers and market analysis. Develop and execute product strategies within the identified market segments, collaborating closely with clients to translate feedback into product development pathways and enhance sales support, track KPIs, and manage product lifecycles while ensuring compliance with regulations. Build and optimize structures and processes for product development, acting as a bridge between product design and product development. Ensure an integrated approach that aligns technical feasibility with aesthetic and functional excellence, optimizing the final product experience for the customer. Oversee supply chain, supplier relationships, and collaboration with internal teams (R&D, Quality, Logistics) to ensure high standards. The ideal candidate is already embedded in a network of suppliers, including tanneries, chemical companies, manufacturers, and designers, bringing valuable industry connections. They must understand how to navigate the supplier ecosystem, selecting and managing the right partners to achieve product objectives effectively. Strategic Goals Develop and drive product strategy aligned with identified market needs. Strengthen product design and USPs through internal and external partnerships. Establish structured product development processes. Enhance collaboration with customers to successfully meet the requirements and deliver product launches. Requirements At least 5 years of experience in Product Development, with a strong understanding of industrial processes and marketing strategies within the material industry for the fashion sector. Proven experience in managing product lifecycles from design to market distribution. In-depth knowledge of supply chain and proven supplier relationship building, particularly in industries like tanneries, chemical companies, and manufacturing for fashion. Strong understanding of customer insights, market analysis, and the ability to translate these into product development strategies. Ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams (R&D, Quality, Logistics) and manage partnerships with external stakeholders. Proficiency in tracking KPIs and using them to drive product and business success. Familiarity with product compliance regulations and industry standards. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive results through effective teamwork.
