Production & Outsourcing Specialist
Functional Summary of Position**:
The role focuses on the **production** and **outsourcing** activities related to advanced microfluidic devices, integrating mechanical, electronic, optical, and software components.
The **Production and Outsourcing Specialist (POS)** will be hands-on in assembling and testing these units, overseeing the in-house production process, and coordinating external suppliers.
The position requires solid technical skills, operational know-how, and an understanding of quality control measures in a biotech environment.
Other functions:
- Contribute to defining and updating **work instructions** and **production documentation (DHR, Traceability documents, safety datasheets, )**.
- Collaborate with **R&D** for optimizing assembly and ensuring design-for-manufacturability.
- Coordinate suppliers for the **outsourcing** of specialized manufacturing steps.
- **Support microfluidic chip (cartridge) manufacturing**, including surface functionalization steps such as plasma cleaning and silanization, in cooperation with senior staff.
- **Manage inventory** related to production components, ensuring timely availability and quality, **including the purchase of consumables for microfluidic assays** (reagents, fittings, tubing, etc.
).
- Help develop **testing protocols** and address any non-conformities found during the assembly or testing process.
**Key responsibilities**:
- **Assembly and Preliminary Testing
? **Assemble** electrical, electronic, mechanical, and optical components of Lighthouse Biotech devices, under the guidance of senior team members.
? **Perform basic functional checks**, identify potential defects, and propose/implement corrective actions in coordination with the Company experienced staff.
- **Production Oversight
? **Assist** in planning production milestones in collaboration with the COO/project manager.
? **Contribute** to ensuring that production activities meet quality standards, deadlines, and budget constraints, following established guidelines.
? **Maintain** production and quality control documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- **Outsourcing Management
? **Help define** the outsourcing approach from scratch, collaborating with the COO to identify and evaluate potential suppliers and set up processes.
? **Manage day-to-day communication** with minor or specialized external suppliers once identified.
? **Track** any outsourced processes to confirm delivery times, quality, and compliance with company requirements.
- **Quality Assurance and Process Improvement
? **Apply** existing quality procedures and **suggest** improvements or optimizations where applicable, working closely with senior staff.
? **Collaborate** with the team to identify and address bottlenecks or inefficiencies in production and testing activities.
- **Coordination with R&D and Project Teams
? **Provide feedback** on design improvements that could simplify or enhance the manufacturing process.
? **Support** the validation and industrialization phases of new products.
**Qualification needed for this position**:
- **Education**:
? Diploma from a technical high school (electrotechnical or mechatronic).
? A bachelor's degree (3-year) in engineering (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics) or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- **Experience**:
? Previous experience assembling and/or testing complex devices or systems (e. g. , electromechanical, optical, or microfluidic).
? Familiarity with supplier management and outsourcing processes is advantageous.
- Starting Timeline_
- The start date will be aligned with the planned arrival of key materials and the assembly schedule for upcoming Lighthouse Biotech units.
This timing is influenced by our ongoing development projects, including resources from recently secured grants, as well as the coordinated delivery of critical components from our suppliers. _
