The UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) Bologna, Italy Study Center, supports academic programs serving approximately 100 students annually at host institutions in Milan and Bologna, Italy.

**Contract Hours**: Full-time 38 hours/week

The Program Coordinator provides a wide range of student services in support of UCEAP's international academic exchange programs served by the Bologna Study Center.
Under the direction of the Program Manager, this position serves as the first point of contact for general student inquiries and as the primary academic and student services advisor for assigned programs, ensuring that students adhere to both UC and partner program requirements.
The Program Coordinator provides administrative and logístical support to the Program Manager including student services, emergency response, and program operations.
This role is responsible for communicating with students, host institutions and the Systemwide UCEAP office on program administration, policies and procedures, requirements and student welfare-related issues.
Participates in after-hours emergency response on-call rotation.
**Requirements**:
**Knowledge and Skills **(typically required of the position)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and multicultural competencies.
- Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate within a diverse complex organization.
- Strong communication skills; professional English writing/speaking skill; skill in obtaining and conveying information clearly and with accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, learn, and build trust among faculty, staff, and students.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Three years of demonstrable experience supporting and providing student services in an administrative role or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; knowledge of advising and counseling techniques; ability to assess and give appropriate referrals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge about current safety, security, and health issues, as they affect students abroad.
- Must be available to travel 0-10%, work occasional evenings and weekends and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to respond to student emergencies.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, prioritize and adjust to varying workloads, manage a variety of tasks and meet various deadlines with changing priorities, interruptions and conflicting deadlines.
- Knowledge of the structure and organization of Italian higher education.
**Desirable
- Familiarity with the city of Bologna and the University of Bologna.
- Experience studying or living abroad.
- Program administration experience in a higher education environment.
- Knowledge of the structure and organization of U. S. higher education.
**Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience/training.
**Special Conditions
- Must be legally authorized to work in Italy.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and abroad on an occasional basis.
- Must be available to participate in an on-call rotation to respond to student emergencies after hours and on weekends during program terms.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check is required.
