This opportunity resides with Live, Virtual, Constructive Solutions, a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of Program Level Technical Writer to support US Sixth Fleet (C6F). The ideal candidate is someone willing to relocate or who already resides in Naples, Italy.
ResponsibilitiesWrite, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as contracts, performance work statements, technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing subject matter experts, observations, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. Conduct quality review of materials. Minimum Qualifications6 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 4 years relevant experience with a Master's in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience. Minimum three years' experience on Combatant Command or Service Component Staff. Ability to understand contract requirements and language. Ability to engage professionally with the client at the contracting officer/COR level. Ability to build working relationships with Task Order technical leads and leaders in various program management offices. Ability to manage deadlines. Ability to give professional presentations both in person and in virtual environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Better than average command of the English language, including the ability to reword lengthy explanations into concise, impactful statements and build a big picture narrative by combining fragments. Active SECRET clearance required. Preferred RequirementsExperience as former contracting officer or contracting officer representative (COR) or similar experience in the military acquisition's environment. Physical RequirementsWork environment is a modern office physically located at Building C41, U. S. Naval Support Activity, Naples, Italy. Work is performed indoors while living in a low to medium terrorist threat environment with some potential risks to safety and health hazards related to electronics.
