Project Cost Controller

General Job Function: The Project Cost Controller has experience in project cost controls related to low & medium level complexity projects. He/she may lead costs controls processes for low-level complexity projects or for a subset of moderate-level complexity project scope (i. e. work breakdown structure or work package). The PCC can be assigned to multiple projects simultaneously.
Duties and Responsibilities : Project planning process: Complete, for assigned projects, all aspects of the project cost controls process such as: the development and maintenance of the baseline project cash flow/Estimate-at-Complete (EAC) forecasts, the budget and/or EAC report associated with project scope through project lifecycle. Prepare a Risk & Opportunities assessment matrix based on the inputs of the team. Responsibilities may also include earned value management system in collaboration with the schedule team.
Project executing, monitoring, and controlling processes: Responsible for all aspects of project cost controls activities regarding scope. Process, monitor and track changes following an integrated change control process. Prepare project cost expenditure forecasts and progress evaluations/projections (including Estimate at Completion updates and Earned Value Management with the scheduler) to support project performance and financial reporting requirements. Review project expenditures for compliance with project baselines and scope. Promote teamwork and effective communication, which includes maintenance and dissemination of project metrics to ensure team, customer, and all stakeholders are kept informed of project status. Update the Risks & Opportunities assessment matrix and adjust the necessary contingencies as a consequence. Develop or oversee project databases, systems and procedures to ensure efficient handling and transmission of project performance information between project team members.
Project closing process: Properly close the project by archiving work in financial, document management, and resource management systems/tools. Perform and communicate final project completion cost assessment. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work.
Support successful project execution and promote continuous improvement within the team: Identify, assess, and implement value-added improvement opportunities, which will improve overall project performance. Create and oversee the lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies: Bachelor's degree or Westinghouse-defined equivalency. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Accounting, Construction Management or related technical discipline. Minimum 1 year of project controls experience or 1 year of experience in a technical role in the nuclear or construction industryPreferred: 3 years project controls experience in the position functional/technical areaCommunicationPlanning and OrganizationTeamworkTime ManagementDriving for ResultsKnowledge of Project Management Institute's (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide)
