Panoramica:
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders, was founded in 1971 in Paris by a group of journalists and doctors.
We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.
Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff - bound together by our charter.
Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality.
We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
In 2020 MSF OCB has handed over the responsibility for the implementation of their Operations in Italy to MSF Italy, with the mandate to focus on Migration issues.
People On the Move project is based mainly in the North (Ventimiglia) and South (Roccella Ionica), focusing on providing first medical line service at landings and PHC through mobile clinic at the French-Italian border.
Our target population are mainly transit people.
Together with these interventions, the project has the objective to monitor/assess medical needs above all Italian territory with the objective to identify situation on needs, providing timely medical intervention.
Responsabilità:
**Scope, reporting lines
The Medical Doctor reports directly into the Nurse Activity Manager and functionally into the Nurse Activity Manager/Project Medical Referent.
Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and up dated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.
**Accountabilities
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
- Support and management of the vital functions of adult and pediatric patients in health emergency situations and collaborates with the local emergency service to guarantee continuity of treatment.
- Identifying Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and referring them to MH team so they can receive multidisciplinary care and all necessary treatment.
Knowing and is aware of the importance and appropriate use of the Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit
- Proving medical -legal and SGBV certificate when requested, respecting MSF protocol.
- Referral follow up and medical certificate.
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care of the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material.
Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager about any problem or complication of the patients' illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment, or material.
- Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team to optimize the quality of care.
- Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are always followed and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control.
Ensure professional confidentiality is respected.
- Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing, and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary

As we work in a volatile context it is required to be flexible in term of time-shift and task according to the project's needs.
Qualifiche:

Basic:
- Italian citizenship or residency permit
- Listed in the Italian register of Physicians
Education
- Medical Doctor diploma
- Desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine (For OCB OCBA Tropical Medicine Is essential)
Experience
- Desirable in tropical medicine, or post-registration experience in Public Health, obs and gynae, paediatrics, A, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine, or minor surgery.
- Desiderable valid BLSD certificate
**Conditions
**Duty Station**: Project is based in Roccella Jonica and Ventimiglia, it is essential to be flexible to move in different locations accordingly to the project needs.
**Compensation and benefits**:
- Health Insurance: health insurance will be granted through the Italian National Health Care System plus an extra medical insurance (Sanimpresa) for contracts with a duration of 90 days or greater, which covers medical costs, illness and hospitalization, permanent invalidity and death (100k).
- The staff will be entitled to a luncheon voucher worth €5 for each day worked for the entire period of his/her contract.
