Property portfolio Manager
Your new role
- Prepare the annual delivery of business plan for the portfolio, monitor and report on progress, identify deviations, recommend remedial action and implement to achieve business objectives
- Recommend, implement and manage the resources needed to deliver the plan
- Initiate new ideas and concepts to support the development and delivery of the business plan
- Positively promote the department, division and company as a whole to maximize brand leverage
- Ensure strategic direction of portfolio is aligned to delivery of business objectives.
- Ensure portfolio: | Complies with legal and regulatory requirements | Adheres to QBE underwriting standards and best practice | Meets reporting requirements | Enables management of insurance risks
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, brokers, industry bodies, business partners, reinsurers and colleagues, to maximize influence
- Network internally and externally to promote the interests of QBE EO and to learn from others
- Attend internal and external groups and participate in industry forums and corporate activity to represent QBEs EO interests
- Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriately
- Manage and develop the portfolio including retention and acquisition in line with the business plan
- Underwrite insurance risks to meet business objectives including: | Negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business | Managing production and issue of contract certainty documentation | Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines
- Ensuring compliance with QBE Underwriting Authority
- Recommend systems and reports to ensure the book of business is managed efficiently and effectively
- Contribute to aggregate management and peer reviews to develop excellence
- Review and recommend action from reports that: | Regularly monitor the performance of the portfolio gross and net of reinsurance | Monitor performance against the business plan | Comply with exception reporting criteria as required | Meet the requirements of the Director of Underwriting/ CUO
- Manage records of underwriting risks and aggregate exposures to ensure accuracy of data and effective risk management
- Manage the effective purchase of facultative reinsurance.
Review findings and implement action plans to internal audit reviews.
- Manages and supports the portfolio team to ensure that people, resources and processes are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose
- Manage, resource, motivate, develop and focus the team(s)to ensure the required standards of performance and support the continuing personal and professional development of team members
- Recommend appointment, dismissal, performance engagement and reward of the team(s) to effectively manage portfolio resources as permitted through any delegated authority
- Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports and build a strong culture of accountability and performance to ensure delivery of goals
- Lead by example and demonstrate behaviors to inspire team.
About you
- At least 2 years in an international insurance network as a Property underwriting Manager
- Deep knowledge of local market in the property segment
- Strong organizational, analytical and prioritization skills
- Strong interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills
- Ability to analyze data and use for decision-making
