The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a professional counselor to conduct clinical assessments and testing to develop and provide sex offender counseling and substance abuse treatment to the offender population through group and one-on-one sessions.
Job DutiesConducts sex offender education classes and therapy groupsConducts substance abuse treatment classesConducts one-on-one clinical assessments and individual counseling sessionsMaintains clinical recordsParticipates in meetings and clinical staffingsDevelops, reviews and updates individualized treatment plans for participantsCoordinates transitional pre-release planning with case managers and maintains accurate statistical dataDrives on State businessPerforms other duties appropriate to the assignmentKnowledge OfSex offender and substance abuse treatment practices and protocolsCounseling techniquesAdult learning processesSecurity practicesADCRR policies and proceduresComputer operation and various software, including Microsoft Office and Google suiteGood command of English language, including grammar and spellingSkill InVerbal and written communicationEstablishing and maintaining interpersonal relationshipsOrganization and time managementActive listeningCounseling and interviewingCollecting and maintaining statistical data, accurate documentation and clinical recordsAbility ToEffectively deliver programs in a classroom environmentInteract professionally with inmates in a group and/or one-on-one settings, security staff, and the publicWork in a secured prison environmentWork independently with minimal supervisionSelective Preference(s)Two (2) years of experience with sex offender counseling.
Pre-Employment RequirementsCandidates must be licensed in the State of Arizona as a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); or a Psychologist.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test consistent with Arizona Revised Statutes.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply: Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks.
The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.
Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training.
An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A. A. C. )
R2-10-207. 11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
