Public Policy Program Manager , It Public Policy
An advanced degree in area of study relevant to the role (Law, Political Science);
- 5+ years of relevant public policy and advocacy experience, e. g.
within corporate public policy and government relations, in public administration, trade association or non-governmental organization;
- English and Italian oral and written fluency.
Job summary
Based in Italy, the new Public Policy Program Manager will be responsible for day-to-day activities in support of the IT PP Team and for engaging and partnering with policymakers, regulators, academia and other non-governmental groups in support of a wide range of Amazon's businesses.
He/She will support in coordinating external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, partnerships, and initiatives in support of these objectives as well as conducting selected activities on His/Her own.
The role will be based in Rome and be part of the Italian Public Policy team.
The Italian Public Policy team works with a wide range of national, local, and supranational policymakers, industry organizations, and non-governmental organizations across policy issues spanning the consumer and commercial environment, including but not limited to digital technology, consumer affairs, economic development, privacy, intellectual property, logistics and tax.
Key job responsibilities
As a new Public Policy Program Manager, you will be able to coordinate Amazon's engagement with relevant industry associations and wider coalitions, and manage consultancy support.
You will be able to support and drive medium scale projects, conduct external advocacy efforts, outreach programmes, partnerships, and initiatives in support of corporate related files.
You will be a team player, able to work collaboratively and respectfully within broader European and global structures, to earn trust and build partnership with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
You will demonstrate an astute understanding of the IT public policy and regulatory environment, as well as EU public policy.
Key job responsibilities
- Support the Team and executives on policy positioning, approaches and messaging;
- Develop and manage relationships with a wide range of policy-makers, associations, scholars, NGOs, business partners and influencers;
- Write and evolve messaging and talking points in a thoughtful and strategic way;
- Evaluate the fit of potential solutions to business problems, and their limitations, by partnering with internal functions;
- Handle alone selected dossiers and related engagements;
- Manage IT Public Policy team reports collecting inputs form the team members;
- Invent new solutions if needed.

- Legal/regulatory background and experience;

- Strong document drafting and legislative monitoring skills;
- Deep understanding of the Italian political environment;
- Capable of using experience and data to assess and recommend a best course of action;
- Experience working collaboratively in a highly-matrixed environment, alongside teams including Legal, PR, and business teams;
- Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and quickly identify solutions to problems;
- An ownership mentality with regards to your projects;
- Experience managing external consultants;
- Experience in EU public policy.
