About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join our team for an exciting Data Center project in Milan. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the construction and delivery of a state-of-the-art data center facility. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mechanical systems within large-scale construction projects and experience working in the data center or similar industries.
Key Responsibilities: Cost Management: Responsible for accurately measuring and managing mechanical works associated with the data center project, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection systems. Quantity Take-Offs: Perform detailed quantity take-offs, ensuring accurate measurements and materials for mechanical systems. Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare cost estimates, work closely with the project management team to set budgets, and ensure the project is delivered within the set cost limits. Tender Analysis: Assist with reviewing and analyzing tenders from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure they meet project specifications and cost expectations. Contract Administration: Assist in managing the procurement of mechanical contracts and monitor contract performance throughout the project lifecycle. Change Management: Identify and assess variations in scope, and manage their impact on project costs, timelines, and contracts. Reporting: Prepare regular reports for senior management detailing costs, progress, and any potential risks to the project budget. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other quantity surveyors to ensure all mechanical work is executed efficiently and on time. Quality Control: Ensure compliance with all mechanical specifications, building codes, and industry standards. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor in large-scale construction projects, ideally in the data center, commercial, or industrial sectors. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical. Experience with cost estimation software, tendering, and contract management. Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate quantity take-offs. Solid understanding of construction processes and industry standards. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Italian is a plus. Experience in working within the Milan region is preferred.
