Permanent
The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit (YHROCU) is looking to appoint two Technical Surveillance Officers within the Regional Technical Surveillance Unit located within Wakefield, West Yorkshire. This specialist department delivers bespoke technical surveillance assistance and solutions in support of both serious and organised crime; and major crime investigations across the whole of the Yorkshire and Humberside region.
We are looking for technically minded, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who already have a good technical grounding to become part of this specialist team. The Regional Technical Surveillance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of technical surveillance within the Yorkshire and Humber region. The role is very interesting, challenging but also extremely rewarding and the support we provide our customers, the YHROCU and its constituent forces, plays an integral part in both Serious and Organise crime; and Major Crime investigations.
Although the role is advertised as Monday to Friday office hours, there will be a requirement to work outside this period sometimes through the night and over weekends dependent on our customers operational needs. Additional hours worked over the contracted 37 hours and weekend working will attract additional paid overtime and/or additional shift change payments. Across both the Intermediate and advanced role there is also an additional standby payment to cover an urgent out of hours technical surveillance provision.
There is currently a temporary Market Factors increase in salary on the Entry level role which increases the starting salary of £31, 434 to £34, 287. This is negotiated on a yearly basis therefore not guaranteed. The Intermediate and Advanced roles are not affected by the Market factors payment and therefore remain a permanent salary.
The Yorkshire & Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. We are committed to building a service that reflects a wide variety of skills, knowledge, perspectives and backgrounds. We strive for individuals to feel included regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, religion, belief, socio economic status or appearance, and we particularly encourage applicants from under-represented groups to support us in achieving this.
Shortlisted applicants will be requested to attend a formal interview process.
The post is suitable for job share.
Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last five years. Therefore, where this applies, applicants may be refused because it was not possible to vet them to the appropriate standard.
No Shift Allowance
