R&D Engineer - Instrument Transformers
Within the High Voltage Products Business Unit (BU), the Technology Center (TC) Italy is responsible – as part of a global R&D organization – for the development and optimization of products such as Metal-Enclosed Circuit Breakers, Hybrid Switchgear, and Instrument Transformers.
You will report to the R&D Team Manager, focusing on different types of gas insulated high voltage instrument transformers, such as inductive current and voltage transformers, combined current and voltage transformers, and station service voltage transformers.
In a context of growth and production insourcing initiatives, you will put your unique technical knowledge and collaboration skills into different technology and product development workstreams.
Your objectives will be to continuously improve the design and manufacturability, enhance the organization's competencies on instrument transformers, and to introduce innovative and eco-efficient solutions.
How you'll make an impact Provide technical support to business operations and customers, including production and service units around the globe.
Identify and implement effective short and long-term solutions, ensuring that products and processes are timely updated across the affected business network. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the engineering dimensioning tools, while providing technical guidance to users. Perform a variety of product development and change management assignments requiring advanced and innovative techniques within both R&D projects and product improvement initiatives.
Document work thoroughly and contribute to the creation of comprehensive reports and presentations. Participate in international R&D projects aimed at developing and implementing innovative and eco-efficient products as technical specialist in your area of expertise.
Execute tasks and deliver solutions to meet project specifications on quality, time and cost. Monitor the quality performance of products within your responsibility and demonstrate the ability to identify design and/or process improvements.
Drive the implementation of the resulting actions in both active products and new developments. Build and maintain a relevant professional network internationally and cross-functionally, to support ongoing activities and foster collaboration. Your background Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Minimum 3 years' experience in design and testing of medium/high voltage instrument transformers, including inductive current and voltage transformers, combined current and voltage transformers. Experience with station service voltage transformers and capacitive voltage transformers is preferred. Knowledge of dry air insulation technology for high voltage applications is a strong plus. Knowledge of CAD software and 3D modelling, with preference to PTC Creo or similar tools. Solid understanding of PLM systems, with preference to PTC Windchill. Good documentation, presentation and communication skills; willingness to collaborate internationally and cross-functionally; strong proactive approach to multi-disciplinary problem solving. Fluent English; proficiency in Italian is a plus.
