**About the role**:

The R&D Manager manages the R&D spec & Deco department and he is responsible for internal management of R&D projects.

The R&D Manager assist in translating our customer requirements into projects and new products, resulting in growth in volumes and margins for the overall businesses.

The individual in this role will be a technical key contact and work with multiple resources within the BC organization, such as Production, Quality, R&D and Sales.

Directs a team of R&D Product Experts Specialists in-line with the overall R&D roadmap and business strategy.

The R&D Manager strives for product excellence and drives continuous improvement for our products and services.

Liaises with the business to understand current and future product testing needs.

Furthermore, the R&D Manager develops plans, cost estimates and schedules for integrating requests into laboratory operations.

Consolidates and shares in-depth knowledge within R&D and the business.

The R&D Manager develops and supervises R&D Product Experts Specialists, and provides guidance and support on more complex activities and key issues.

**Key responsibilities include

- Act as the heart of the R&D department by consolidating and sharing in depth product knowledge, gained internally or through customer interaction, with all of R&D and our customers.

- Lead technical product development and/or packaging proactively and ensure best in class product/packaging solutions as well as world-class product ranges.

- Ensure excellence in execution by ensuring a timely delivery and outstanding speed to market in collaboration with Customer R&D.

- Strive for product excellence, packaging & raw material knowledge.

- Liaise with other functional and operational area managers such as QA, sourcing and/or OSCO to understand their current and future product testing needs.

- Develop plans, cost estimates and schedules for integrating the aforementioned needs into laboratory operations.

- Define requirements and specifications for new products, new raw materials and new packaging and evaluate all aspects going into a new product launch. .

- Interact closely with R&D Technical Lifecycle Management to manage the product portfolio effectively and efficiently.

- Act as a sparring partner to Customer R&D by challenging customer requests.

- Ensure knowledge transfer beyond location and plant by leveraging the global network or R&D Product Experts.

**About you

- You hold a Master Degree in Science/Engineering or similar, preferably in a food science discipline

- You have 5+ years of experience in R&D

- Knowledge of fats, oils, compounds & fillings is a must

- Experience in Project Management & Leadership

- Good knowledge of working tools (MS Office, SAP, )

- Fluent Business English

- You are willing to travel regionally

- Communication skills

- Strong analytical skills

- Good knowledge of MS Excel
