Information about Agilent is available at www.agilent.com. The Vacuum Product Division of Agilent leads the development and manufacturing of Vacuum Products (such as Turbo Molecular, Ion and Primary pumps as well as related vacuum accessories including a Mass Spectrometer Leak Detector).

As our new R&D Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will be joining our dynamic R&D engineering team in Torino (Leinì). This internship will be aimed to deepen your knowledge on specific topics related to bearings failure in Turbomolecular Pumps (TMP) and to the understanding of bearings Failure Root Causes.

Specifically, the focus of the work will be to explore and screen different methods to analyze the surface/bulk material of damaged bearings running tracks, with the final goal to indicate the most promising and suitable tools that will enhance the identification of the original bearing's failure Root Causes.

The activity will be carried on both in the Agilent Technologies R&D Labs sited in Leinì (Torino) and in the Labs of the membership University department. Your main responsibilities will be:Review and summarize Technical Literature already available on the subjectWork closely with extended Technical Team (Agilent experts and your department experts) to identify/validate most promising methods/techniques to reach the goalPerform tests and analysis on failed TMP's bearings to validate and prove the effectiveness of the identified methods/techniquesFormulate bearings failure Root Cause Hypothesis based on analysis and findingsEnsure all the outputs are well-documented (reports) and recordedInteract and manage relationship between internal Agilent Technologies R&D team and University officialsThis is a 6 months internship (potentially renewable for another 6 months after graduation) based in our plant in Torino (Leinì), starting ideally in January or February 2025. QualificationsWe are looking for a highly-skilled individual with the following background:Currently completing a final year of Master's Degree in Mechanical, Acoustical or Aerospace EngineeringIdeally, the possibility to complete another 6 months internship after graduationGood level of English and proficiency in Italian is preferred. On a personal level, you are proactive, organized and eager to learn.

You also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with many external and internal partners.
