You shall be working in the research and development department, which is responsible for the automation logics relevant to Energy Storage, Microgrid and Renewable automation product families within the Grid Automation Business Unit - Grid Edge Solutions team.

The R&D team is located at the Hitachi Energy office in Genoa, Italy.

We are looking for a highly motivated engineering professional with the ability to drive automation research and development projects under the direction of the Automation Product Line Manager and working in team with the Project Manager.

Your focus shall be the automation of distributed generation integrated in traditional power systems as well as in Microgrid.

You shall also be supporting the validation of Grid Edge Solution software and hardware control platforms ensuring the adequacy of these to meet increasingly stringent requirements with the support of a global R&D team.

**Posizione**:

- Lead all the technical activities coordinating the global project team

- Managing project progress and adapt work as required leveraging on the Agile methodology

- Design, implementation, validation, and testing of automation control functionalities with the collaboration of the team

- Implementation of the logics on Hitachi Energy automation platforms (controllers and PLC) using platform specific languages (IEC 61131)

- Support complete R&D project life cycle, from design to testing exploiting Hardware in the Loop and Software in the loop environments.

- Provide high quality support to engineering projects

- Support rollout of the automation solution globally, including room training and training on the job on real project.

- Proactively seek and implement quality improvements during the entire life of the project.

**Requisiti**:

- Proactivity, flexibility, good communication, interpersonal and team working skills.

- Solid presentation skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.

High awareness for quality, process and tool in related area.

- Master's degree, preferred in Electrical or Automation Engineering or comparable discipling

- At least 3 years of experience leading an automation team with experience in troubleshooting and analyzing technical complex problems; exposure to R&D context is a plus.

- 3 - 6 years of experience in digital control applied to Microgrid systems, battery storage and renewable generation.

- Excellent knowledge of IEC 61131-3 standard PLC Programming Languages includes Ladder Diagram, Functional Block and Structured Text.

Control loop experience is required;

- Knowledge of components such as RTUs, power meters, PLCs.

- Experience on Codesys is beneficial

- Knowledge on industrial communication protocols (e. g.

Modbus, IEC60870-101/104, IEC 61850, DNP3. 0, Profibus, Canbus etc.

)

- Excellent knowledge of protocol simulators and TCP/UDP sniffing tools

- Knowledge of power systems, LV, MV and HV electrical equipment, switchgears, generation equipment.

- Knowledge of Hardware in the Loop platforms (Typhoon) is a plus.

- Knowledge of Azure DevOps and experience of working in agile environment is a plus.

- Some experience with scripting or python experience can be beneficia
