Regional Consumer Lines Underwriting Manager
This role is responsible for managing Underwriting functions for multiple Consumer Product Lines for EMEA, and to execute and coordinate the underwriting strategy to support growth, ensure compliance and to manage the business to required profit margins.
Key functions include referrals, underwriting best practices, account management, training, development, compliance, governance & pricing.
Key Responsibilities
**Referral and Case Underwriting**:
Ensure that all new and renewal business is compliant with the Underwriting Guidelines, Policies and Procedures, Underwriting Authority & Risk Appetite
Underwrite new and renewal business for all countries, in a compliant manner.
Encourage underwriting thought process in referrals made by local and regional underwriters.
Provide ongoing training to improve underwriting skills and develop succession plans based on competency of local underwriters.
Develop and approve rating and other underwriting criteria that exceed local underwriting authority limits.
Provide detailed explanation of decisions made to enhance knowledge of underwriters.
**Underwriting Audits**:
Conduct and participate in country underwriting audits in EMEA
Collect and validate preliminary audit data, ensuring it is submitted on time; it accurately reflects the P&L and has enough granularity to examine the portfolio on an account-by-account basis.
Organizing underwriting and financial data for audit
Work with local underwriters with reviewing the audit, addressing objections, and requested changes.
Develop and help implement relevant underwriting remediation plans identified during audits to ensure satisfactory results on future audits
Projects, Data Initiatives, Product development and Revenue Maximization:
Analyse the Underwriting work flow (new policies, renewals, endorsements, premium coding, etc. )
and recommend any necessary changes to ensure high efficiency and effectiveness.
Support regional project initiatives.
In conjunction with our predictive analytics, actuarial and data management teams, develop and help drive global data strategies to improve pricing sophistication, data management, data analytics, rate optimization and management reporting.
Partner with commercial team resources to develop, implement and track revenue maximization initiatives to aggressively grow top line in preferred segments/channels/markets.
Integration and consolidation of underwriting profitability, pricing segmentation and revenue maximization models to optimize yield management and sustainable profit
Support underwriting and data analytics in conjunction with global and regional digital underwriting and analytic teams to help accelerate and optimize digital distributions
**Best Practices & Training**:
Develop and manage local and regional underwriting training and implement development plans for key personnel to local underwriting expertise, improve referral quality and improve local account/portfolio management.
In conjunction with Regional Management, develop, implement and maintain underwriting guidelines and policy and procedures
**Authority Management & Compliance**:
**Internally Delegated UW Authority**: Ensure compliance with delegated underwriting authority and in conjunction with CUO, review regional and local authorities to ensure they're relevant and current
**Externally Delegated UW Authority**: Ensure compliance with the Producer Delegated Authority Guidelines.
**Externally Administration Authority**: Ensure compliance with Claims Bulletins regarding TPA appointment and management.

Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
Expected to have considerable market experience.
Continues to develop technical and broader business skills.
Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of specialist product line, the insurance market and competitors.
