Deadline for sending applications: 11. 12. 2024 at 12:00 PM (noon)Description of the research activity:Additive Manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, enables the creation of complex objects through the addition of material layers, offering significant advantages to industry, such as the integration of multiple functions and weight reduction of components.

This project proposes new numerical simulation methods based on the Finite Element Method and supported by artificial intelligence to optimize AM processes on an industrial scale and reduce costs with a minimal number of experiments.

A new High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure at UniBZ will enable high-performance simulations, foster the adoption of intelligent technologies, and accelerate computations using Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINN).

The objectives include developing open-source codes for Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) simulations and contributing to regional competitiveness.
