1 research grant will be awarded for the research project entitled "Development of optical neural interfaces for time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy in deep brain regions", to be conducted at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Padua, under the supervision of Dr. Filippo Pisano, who is the Research Project Supervisor.

The purpose of this research grant, which is funded by the Department of Physics and Astronomy with project ERC Starting grant 2024 "NEUROLIDAR" funds, is to support research into developing novel approaches to measure multimodal neural dynamics using label-free optical sensing in arbitrary deep brain regions.

The research goal is to introduce novel methods for vibrational neural spectroscopy (for example, Raman and SERS) and endoscopy through micro and nanostructured photonic probes based on multimode optical fibers at high spatio-temporal resolution.

The researcher will work on the development and fabrication of the probes as well as on the development of advanced optical systems in an interdisciplinary environment crossing physics and neuroscience.

The researcher will have a primary role in experimental activities, in writing scientific papers, and presenting research results at international conferences.

Candidates are selected by a comparative evaluation of their qualifications, academic and professional curriculum vitae, publications, an interview, and reference letters.

The applications will be valued by a referee committee, designed by the Director of the structure and composed of three members belonging to the scientific area of the research project, one of whom is normally the scientific responsible of the scientific project.
