**Polymer Physicist - Molecular Modeling

The person in this role is responsible for utilizing molecular modeling competencies to drive the physical chemical understanding of our materials, and translating that understanding into actionable information to support product research and development projects in support of product line business and overall company objectives.

**Position Accountability

- Be an expert voice on molecular modeling in the GBU, and a member of a multi-scale modeling team within the Materials GBU.

- Use modeling expertise to develop a deep understanding of the physical chemical phenomenon of interest to Solvay Materials, and use this understanding to coordinate and guide synthetic chemists and product development scientists on innovation projects.

- Experience in coding (Python, Matlab, etc. )

- Develop, and actualize an expert understanding - via open literature, conferences, proceedings, patents, etc.

- of the salient developments in polymer physical chemistry in order to drive innovation areas for the GBU.

- Ability to strongly collaborate with Application Development Lab scientists and potentially customers in order to understand and derive complex physicals problem into equations and transfer knowledge to peer software

- Lead or assist in advising on, or driving external programs and/or funding opportunities with universities/institutions or other Solvay entities to evaluate emerging technologies and work with Marketing to develop commercial opportunities

**Education and Experience**:

- Advanced degree in, and more importantly, deep technical understanding of the Physical Sciences or Engineering, preferably Polymer Physics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.

- Expert competency in molecular modeling

- Exposure to or hands-on experimental competencies is a plus

- Any level of industry experience also a plus**Skills**:
