Offer DescriptionBreast cancer is the most common cancer among women and the leading cause of cancer-related death.
While early diagnosis and effective therapies have improved survival rates, some tumor cells (CTDs) can spread early to other organs, remain dormant, and reactivate years later, causing incurable metastases.
Our study focuses on the xCT molecule, which is highly expressed in breast cancer and inversely correlated with patient survival.
In murine models, xCT is crucial for metastasis, affecting both tumor invasiveness and communication with pre-metastatic tissues.
Additionally, xCT facilitates the release of extracellular vesicles (EVs), which are involved in forming the pre-metastatic niche.
This study aims to investigate the role of xCT in EV cargo and its impact on immunity, extracellular matrix, and endothelium, comparing EVs from cells with and without xCT expression to identify new therapeutic targets.
