Safety Manager - Aerospace Industry
As a Safety Manager you will be the unique focal point for the development, administration, and maintenance of organisation's Safety Management processes.
The Safety Manager shall support the organization to:
- establish, implement and maintain a safety policy and the corresponding related safety objectives;
- establish, implement and maintain a safety risk management process to identify safety hazards entailed by its aviation activities, evaluate them and manage associated risks, including taking actions to mitigate the risks and verify their effectiveness;
- establish, implement and maintain a safety assurance process that includes:
(i) the measurement and monitoring of the organisation's safety performance;
(ii) the management of changes;
(iii) the principles for the continuous improvement of the safety management element;
- promote safety in the organisation through:
(i) training and education;
(ii) communication;
- establish an occurrence reporting system in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of safety.
He/she is responsible to:
managing the safety reporting scheme and the occurrence reporting system, including initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence investigations;
facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment and management;
monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan, unless action follow-up is addressed by the Quality Assurance function;
provide periodic reports on safety performance to the safety review board;
ensure the maintenance of safety management documentation;
ensure that there is safety training available, and that it meets acceptable standards;
provide advice on safety matters establishing feedback from manufacturing incidents/issues and feeding these back into the recurrent training programme.
- Learning experience in EHS functions can be also considered as initial background evaluation (positions like Italian RSPP or similar type of expertise);
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position;
- Degree from aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionics or other studies that are relevant to the initial airworthiness of aircraft components;
- Knowledge of the organisation's POE and safety policy;
- Proficient knowledge of a relevant sample of structural non metallic aircraft components (ATA Chapter 56 - windows) gained through a formalised training course acceptable by the competent authority.
- Expertise of the relevant manufacturing methods (and how they are applied in the organisation);
- Proficient English and outstanding interpersonal
