The Sales Engineer will work directly with customers, including end users and engineering companies, to develop cooling solutions for their processes.
Working with field salespeople and manufacturer's representatives is also essential in all facets of the sales effort toward negotiating eventual purchase orders from the customer.
About the position: This position will require an understanding of heat transfer calculations, mechanical design aspects of equipment, and the ability to work up cost estimates within our system.
The Sales Engineer position has a broad range of responsibilities, which include the following:
Completes thermal analysis of customer requirements and thermal design using heat transfer principles and calculations. Assists other sales engineers with the design and proposal of our system. Prepares proposals on the project's technical specifications and requirements. Supervises and organizes bid preparation and ensures accuracy of costing estimates. Participates in presentations at customer locations and negotiations. Maintains continuous communication with customers to provide our engineered-to-order heat transfer products. Participates in training sessions, meetings, skill building, and professional development classes. Attends industry conferences to develop industry expertise. Works with management to create and implement sales strategies and policies. Assists manager with other tasks as needed. Follows all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourages actions that assure safe behavior; confronts unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively. Complies with all company policies and procedures. Conducts himself/herself in a considerate, professional, cooperative, and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors, and visitors. What you know: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
Professional experience in Heat Transfer is preferred but not required.
Additional competencies include the following:
Requires medium-level technical and financial knowledge to effectively estimate and sell with some degree of independence. Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills along with organizational and presentation skills. Must effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Working knowledge of computer software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is ideal. Demonstrated ability to work both independently (self-directed) and with others as part of a team. Able to confidently interact with a variety of internal and external customers. Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. Must have a valid driver's license. Required to travel both internationally and domestically at approximately 25-35%. The base salary for this role is typically $74, 000 - $102, 000.
