Job Introduction

**We are seeking one person with experience in optical satellite sensors to join the SERCO Earth Observation Quality Control team, supporting ESA in the quality assessment of satellite-based HR and VHR optical products.

The activity requires experts to access and analyse products, using ad-hoc dedicated tools, either commercial or public/open source on dedicated IT resources.

Main Responsibilities

**Core activities

- To perform in-depth satellite data analysis

- To Investigate data quality anomalies in collaboration with the Data Provider

- To contribute to the writing of technical reports, describing the outcome of the quality control activity

- To attend technical meetings with ESA and/or the Data Provider, when needed

- To respect specified activities performance indicators (time-to-complete), tracing the execution as indicated

- To participate in periodic review meetings with internal and external participation

**As needed, support interfacing with**:

- External entities and other Customer interfaces

- Other entities inside consortium

- Prepare scientific documentation / posters for workshops or conferences as agreed with Prime

- Support the preparation of periodic service reports on the activities performed

**Mandatory requisites are**:

- Strong teaming attitude

- Very good interfacing capabilities towards external interfaces: customer, scientific and technical

- Proactive approach to problem identification and resolution.

- Ability to plan and report on proposed problem solutions and to work to deadline.

- Availability to travel to attend meetings.

- Knowledge and experience as specified below.

- Attitude to follow guidelines and to require minimum supervision, proactively requesting help when needed

- Ability to follow different concurrent activities

- Attitude to be propositive in suggesting new approaches or solutions leading to improvements

- Applicants should have a high level of self-motivation, the capability to work effectively in a team and autonomously, and excellent organisation skills.

A strong, proactive attitude is required in identifying problems and proposing solutions.

**Mandatory knowledge and experience requisites are**:

- University degree, or equivalent, in physics, engineering or mathematics.

- Good experience in handling EO data, specifically in the methods for quality control of satellite-based optical products;

- Good knowledge of the main software for satellite data processing and analysis (e. g. , SNAP (ESA tool), ENVI, Arcg Gis, QGIS, );

- Basic knowledge of GIS

- Programming skills (e. g.

Python, IDL, R) ;

- Good oral and written communication;

- Good working proficiency in English.
