No Offer Description Sudden in-flight disability of a pilot may cause an airplane crash, mainly due to a myocardial infarction or sudden cardiac arrest.
To date, our national civil aviation pilots (ITA Airways S. p. A) are required to undergo periodic physical assessments, including laboratory and Ex-ECG tests.
However, the Ex-ECG is characterized by low diagnostic accuracy to detect subclinical CAD in low-intermediate risk populations like civilian pilots.
Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) is the only non-invasive test able to detect subclinical CAD.
The aim of the study is to assess the role of CCTA as a screening test in asymptomatic civilian pilots (=40 years), in comparison to the current suitability protocol.
