Security Specialist
Duties**:
- Plans, directs, and controls security programs including information security; personnel security; operations security; physical security; foreign disclosure; and intelligence security.
- Provides guidance and recommendations to the command regarding security clearances investigations and any derogatory information that may be discovered.
- Assists with physical security and TEMPEST countermeasures for collateral facilities, to include inspections of facilities, establishment of new SCI facilities, and monitoring and maintenance of electronic access system for the unit, etc.
- Develops security, educational and training programs to inform and increase awareness among military personnel and civilian employees.
- Coordinates routine disclosure actions for the disclosure of Classified Military Information (CMI) to foreign government representatives in support of approved U. S. Army international programs.
- Reviews and approves Contract Security Classification Specifications for contracts involving classified information to ensure compliance with DoD Industrial Security Regulations.
- Applies and ensures compliance with regulatory standards for the protection of classified information.
- Develops or supports development of local physical security policies, standards, and procedures, and provides technical guidance designed to protect personnel, facilities, property, and other assets.
- Implements and enforces COMSEC policies to protect sensitive and classified electronic information from interpretation and exploitation by unauthorized personnel.

- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a single scope background investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required, on short notice, up to 25% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within the first two years of employment.

- To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes, but is not limited to, examining pertinent data to determine background investigation or security clearance status; identifying and determining the classification of information and the proper markings; ensuring the proper release and disclosure of information; and performing security investigations and analysis based on security policies/regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
