Security Specialist
Duties**:
- Provide security support for two or more security programs (e. g. Personnel Security (PERSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Foreign Disclosure (FD), Information Security (INFOSEC), and Technical Security or their associated training requirements).
- Applies, interprets, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards for the protection of classified information.
- Provides authoritative information regarding personnel security clearance requirements, SCI access, and adjudicative guidelines to internal and external customers.
- As a Foreign Disclosure Officer, coordinates a variety of disclosure actions for the disclosure of Classified Military Information (CMI) to foreign government representatives in support of approved U. S. Army international programs.

- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.

- In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e. g. , Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e. g. , professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
- To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience equivalent to the GG/GS-11 that prepared you to do this job.
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing an organization's security program in accordance with existing regulations and policies; AND provides security support for two or more of the following security programs: Personnel Security (PERSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Foreign Disclosure (FD), Information Security (INFOSEC), or Technical Security or their associated training requirements). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS/GG-11).
- Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
