Security Specialist (Physical)
Duties**:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of plans, policies, and procedures for safeguarding personnel, government property, information, and programs.
- Conducts Physical Security reviews of blueprints, plans for construction, and renovations.
- Conducts Physical Security on-site inspections, and documents resulting observations and findings.
- Prepares physical security plans, construction security plans, and evaluations related to the protection of facilities and resources.
- Provides technical security support for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), Collateral Spaces, locking devices, locking systems, and electronic security systems.
- Employs knowledge of security program interrelationships sufficient to coordinate and administer HQ INSCOM sensitive compartmented information (SCI) and collateral security programs.
- Resolves complex security problems by utilizing in-depth knowledge of security principles, policies, and procedures.
- Develops, prepares and submits information and briefings in support of the Command Staff Inspection Program.
- Collaborates with security personnel at adjacent/subordinate units and HQDA elements, outside agency security program managers and policy makers, as well as HQ INSCOM staff elements who play a role in the security process/program.

- Two year trial period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).

**To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience equivalent to the GG/GS-12 that prepared you to do this job.
Specialized experience is defined as experience with managing and/or implementing a physical security program which included experience in security for arms, ammunition, and explosives; experience in evaluating construction and renovation designs for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs); and/or experience with locking devices, locking systems, and electronic security systems.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the Federal service (GG/GS-12).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
- Communications Security Management
- Physical Security
- Security Program Management
Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.
Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
