Job Title: Senior Accountant

Position Purpose

We are seeking a broad-skilled and detail-oriented senior accountant.

This role combines key financial oversight with operational support, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes and local regulations.

As the senior accountant, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting activities at our Italian manufacturing plant.

This includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax compliance, and local reporting, ensuring adherence to Italian regulatory standards.

Beyond daily accounting activities and financial management, you will support in-depth analysis and reporting, support budgeting and forecasting, and support in planning cash flow and working capital.

This role requires a proactive, analytical thinker, with broad skillsets with strong communication skills in both English and Italian, capable of working independently within a broader global team in Italy, Sweden and Canada.

Position Responsibilities Financial Accounting: Recording local accounts payable (AP) transactions, including intercompany AP transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments ensuring that all accounting entries are recorded accurately and on time. Review and record local payroll in coordination with payroll providers to confirm accuracy and compliance. Complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and reconciliations. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and sub-ledgers. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Generate manufacturing reports and statistics to assist operational insights. Assist with cash planning efforts and supporting the monitoring of working capital. Support budgeting and forecasting in coordination with the finance and operations teams. Tax Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Maintain statutory books in line with Italian regulations. Oversee compliance with Italian tax laws, including VAT, corporate tax, withholding taxes, and excise duties. Prepare and submit tax and statutory declarations to the appropriate authorities. Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with national and EU regulations. Statutory and Regulatory Audits: Prepare and ensure the accuracy of statutory financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements) in compliance with Italian GAAP. Prepare for and lead statutory audits, ensuring all documentation is complete and in compliance with Italian legal requirements. Collaborate with external auditors during audits. Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters related to the Italy operations. Implement recommendations from auditors to improve financial practices. Internal Controls and Process Improvement: Ensure the implementation and adherence to robust internal control systems. Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting, reporting, and compliance workflows. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as HR, procurement, and operations, to ensure smooth financial operations. Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters related to the Italy operations. Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 5+ years of proven experience in accounting and finance, preferably within a plant or manufacturing environment. Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with JD Edwards (JDE) ERP is a plus. Proficiency in both Italian and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly analytical with a meticulous attention to detail. Self-starter who can work independently within a cross-functional team.
