The Office of Communications (OCC) is responsible for all corporate and internal communication activities of the Organization.
The Senior Communication Officer (Head of the Digital and Multimedia Branch) leads the Digital and Multimedia Branch of OCC, overseeing the creation of multimedia content and its dissemination across digital platforms. Reporting LinesThe Senior Communication Officer reports to the Director, OCC. Technical FocusDigital communications and multimedia relations. Key ResultsLeadership, technical and policy expertise for the planning, development and implementation of office work, projects, products and services in accordance with the FAO Strategic Framework and Corporate Communication Strategy. Key FunctionsLeads multidisciplinary team(s) and represents FAO at inter-agency meetings. Analyzes strategic objectives and provides critical input into plans and strategies. Supervises staff and oversees the delivery of multi-disciplinary programmes. Promotes new concepts and initiatives, managing related projects. Plans and develops consultation and training programmes. Performs other duties as required. Specific FunctionsProvides overall strategic direction to the activities of the Branch. Leads the planning and implementation of multimedia content creation. Manages, mentors, trains and develops the team. Assesses impacts and adjusts strategies accordingly. Oversees FAO's corporate web, social media and digital outputs. Develops strategic relationships with key partners. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWINGAdvanced university degree in communication, journalism, social or political science. Ten years of relevant experience in communication, public information or journalism. Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of another FAO language. GENERAL INFORMATIONExtension of fixed term appointments is based on performance and availability of funds. FAO reserves the right not to make an appointment. Appointment will be subject to certification of medical fitness, accreditation, residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.
