Senior Cost Accountant
About the Role Reporting to the Director, Accounting and Financial Reporting, the Sr Cost Accountant will perform the cost accounting function for the manufacturing sites and/or other supply chain related cost areas under specified area of responsibility.
Responsibilities include executing, overseeing, and reviewing all cost accounting entries according to company policies and conforming to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, reporting and ensuring controls are followed and in full compliance with SOX requirements.
Responsible for analyzing and explaining cost variances, working with plant management to understand and address costs within manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, preparing and managing standards, accounting for inventory, supporting CAPEX, and making recommendations for improvements across manufacturing areas, where relevant.
This role interacts closely with cost accounting peers and the manufacturing site leadership teams, and will share and deploy best practices and agreed approaches.
Responsibilities Inventory and Standard CostingDevelop and maintain Bill of Materials for manufactured products for all plants under area of responsibility as required. Proactively analyze variances and communicate issues and opportunities to senior and operations management. Develop and maintain metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers. Coordinate the monthly reconciliation of all inventory general ledger accounts to the perpetual inventory reports. Prepare and maintain slow moving inventory analysis for all plants within area of responsibility. Working with appropriate production and commercial personnel, ensure adequate inventory reserves are maintained. Coordinate the annual physical inventory count and any other physical counts, as needed. Analyze and reconcile general ledger account balances. Prepare expense account analysis as needed. Collect, analyze and summarize account information. Review cost accountants' journal entries, variance and expense analysis, reconciliations, and inventory reserves analysis, as needed. Financial ReportingAssist in the preparation of all monthly financial reports (income and departmental statements) for management review. Perform month-end cost accounting close functions. Assist in the monthly financial statement consolidation and preparation of reporting for Supply Chain leadership. Review and analyze production variance and purchase price variance accounts on a monthly basis.
Make corrections as necessary and report results to management. Review and analyze logistics, distribution and other supply chain related costs on a monthly basis. BudgetingParticipate in the annual budget process. Work with Supply Chain personnel to determine budget raw material amounts. Work with management of all plants under area of responsibility to develop budget amounts. Accumulate and apply labor and overhead costs. OtherAssist accounting with tracking of capital projects. Special projects as requested by management. Supply internal and external audit teams with information and analysis for internal audits, annual audits and quarterly reviews as required. Follows all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline. At least 3-5 years' experience in accounting, in particular cost accounting experience. Requires strong oral and written communications skills, computer literacy and professional presentation. Strong analytical skills. Solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Flexibility to travel domestically as needed. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule when necessary. Location: Marano Ticino (No)
