Within our Mechanical Department inItaly office, we are looking for a SENIOR HVAC AND UTILITIES DESIGN ENGINEERThe Senior HVAC and Utilities Design Engineer will coordinate and supervise the development of HVAC and Mechanical designs with a specific focus on Data Center projects with the right commitment on time, productivity, and quality in accordance with specific design criteria and client requirements.
They will manage, lead and motivate project teams by means of technical competence, interpersonal sensitivity and conflict management skills.
They will directly manage equipment related to projects and act as technical engineering lead on complex systems and designs. Responsibilities:Lead the design and engineering team in the execution of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems design, with experience on Black Utilities to ensure that project needs and objectives are met;Plan the project activities within the engineering team and according to the Project schedule and deliverables;Provide guidance and technical leadership throughout the project development;Provide regular Project Reports to the Discipline Manager;Manage the Project Change control related to the assigned scope of work in accordance with the Jacobs procedures;Develop design criteria and airflow balance calculations;Develop Utilities calculations for both generation and distribution systems on typical fluids as Chilled, Hot, Glycoled, Softened and Potable Water, Drainage and Sewage system;Promote sustainable design solutions and take part of the Design Sustainable Reviews;Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the design technologies based on the markets best practices and concepts;Prepare / Revise technical specifications, descriptions, scope of work, bill of quantities, etc.
of HVAC and utilities services and all related infrastructure services;Develop / Revise AFDs and PIDs in accordance with the design scope and requirements;Coordinate the design with other engineering disciplines;Coordinate and guide local and international consultants;Interact actively with the 3D modelling teams to ensure conveyance of information;Attend to regular Client and Stakeholder coordination meetings;Perform independent ("cold eyes") project reviews relating to HVAC/Mechanical Utilities design;Perform technical alignments and bid tabulation for tender packages for order placement;Follow-up of HVAC-Utilities Contractors and engineering support to construction activities;Ensure compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices;Able to read and interpret Plumbing and Firefighting PID and drawings wherever required;Lead Jacobs internal education and training courses according to the Discipline Training Plan;Support and mentor junior engineers.
Here's what you'll need Master's degree in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering;Strong background with 8+ years of experience in HVAC and Utilties design;Experience in both local and international projects;Knowledge of national and international standard technical codes (ASHRAE, Energy and Sustainability codes;Availability to national and international assignments;Fluency in English and Italian;Capability of working autonomously and as a part of a large teamGood communication and negotiation skills. Ideally, you'll also have:Experience in Data Centers projects;Revit MEP basic knowledge and specialized collaborative platforms (BIM360, ACC, Naviswork, Revizto);Design software experience for Heating and Cooling loads calculation and Energy Modelling (IES, HAP), CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) Analysis;Basic Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems) Control Systems for the Systems Testing and Commissioning.
