Organizational Setting The Office of Youth and Women (OYW) ensures that youth and women act as conduits both internally in FAO and externally to gather and realize innovative ideas related to youth and women within the FAO mandate. The position is located in the Office of Youth and Women (OYW) at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy. Reporting Lines The Senior Programme Officer (Women) reports to the Director, OYW. Technical Focus Promotion and advancement of the role and empowerment of women in agrifood systems and rural development through enabling policies worldwide. Key Functions Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects. Coordinates programmes and reviews assessments of issues and trends. Supervises preparation of various written outputs. Directs substantive support to consultative meetings and conferences. Manages outreach activities and conducts training workshops. Leads field missions and provides guidance to external consultants. Represents the Organization at international meetings and conferences. Specific Functions Plans, manages or leads multidisciplinary teams. Strengthens networks and develops working relationships on issues related to women. Facilitates targeted engagements at the country and regional level. Develops mechanisms to support initiatives related to career development. Leads resource mobilization activities. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING Advanced university degree in relevant fields. Ten years of relevant experience in programme coordination and management. Working knowledge of English and another FAO language. Technical/Functional Skills Work experience in more than one location or area of work. Demonstrated leadership in managing programmes.
