Organizational SettingThe Office of Youth and Women (OYW) ensures that youth and women act as conduits both internally in FAO and externally, gathering and realizing innovative ideas and approaches related to youth and women within the FAO mandate.
Reporting LinesThe Senior Programme Officer (Women) reports to the Director, OYW.
Technical FocusPromotion and advancement of the role and empowerment of women in agrifood systems and rural development through enabling policies worldwide.
Key ResultsLeadership and technical expertise for the planning, development and implementation of programmes of work, projects, related products and services in accordance with the FAO Strategic Framework.
Key FunctionsLeads the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects. Coordinates programmes and reviews the assessments of issues and trends. Supervises preparation of various written outputs. Directs substantive support to consultative and other meetings. Manages outreach activities; designs and conducts training workshops and seminars. Leads field missions. Represents the Organization at international meetings and conferences. Specific FunctionsPlans, manages or leads highly specialized or multidisciplinary teams. Builds and facilitates FAO's positioning/role in key international, regional and national governance and policy debates. Strengthens networks and develops working relationships. Develops mechanisms to support, manage, coordinate and/or track initiatives. Promotes and coordinates the mainstreaming of the cross-cutting issues of women. Provides conceptual and technical leadership to the WFF. Candidates Will Be Assessed Against The FollowingAdvanced university degree in a relevant field. Ten years of relevant experience in programme coordination and management. Working knowledge of English and another official FAO language. Technical/Functional SkillsWork experience in more than one location or area of work. Extent and relevance of experience in developing vision and strategies. Demonstrated leadership in planning and managing programmes. General InformationExtension of fixed term appointments is based on certification of performance.
