Senior Technician - Harschnitz Group - Funded By Fis
APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: January 29th, 2025 Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary research institute in Milan (Italy) created and supported by the Italian government to develop innovative strategies promoting human health.
HT adopts a multidisciplinary and integrated approach combining genomics, computational and structural biology, neuroscience, and data and decision sciences.
About the lab: The Harschnitz Group studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie susceptibility to viral and autoimmune disease of the human nervous system.
Its interests range from developmental neurobiology, human stem cell biology, and basic virology.
We develop and use cutting-edge human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) technology to establish human in vitro disease models to study neuroinflammation in human, disease-relevant cells.
The group takes a multidisciplinary approach, combining our state-of-the-art human stem cell models with high-content chemical or genetic screens, single-cell analyses, and advanced high-resolution imaging technology to investigate host-virus interactions in the human brain.
The Harschnitz lab at Human Technopole is searching for a senior research technician to contribute to the new FIS Starting Grant: Grant n. FIS-2023-03708 CUP B53C24009410001 Project "Dissecting HSV-1 Latency and Reactivation using Trigeminal Organoids - 3D HSV" in the framework of the FONDO ITALIANO PER LA SCIENZA 2022-2023.
The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team that will investigate the host-virus interplay in the context of viral latency.
Specifically, they will report directly to Oliver Harschnitz while working in close collaboration with members of his team and the entire HT campus.

Key responsibilities: Designing and performing experiments in the fields of stem cell biology and virology. Precise genome engineering of hPSCs using CRISPR/Cas technology. Establishment and optimization of new tools and protocols. Maintaining hPSC lines and hPSC-derived cell cultures. Generating reliable data for publication in the projects to which they are assigned and record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic). Providing technical support and supervision to other laboratory members, including introduction and teaching of new laboratory techniques and support of lab equipment. Participating in key aspects of general lab management and organization (e. g. , ordering/purchasing, managing inventories and stocks of samples, reagents, equipment, and materials). Mandatory requirements: PhD in a relevant subject area (stem cell biology, virology, neuroscience, or similar). Experience as Laboratory Technician. Experience in hPSC culture and differentiation. Strong molecular biology skills (e. g.
cloning, Western blot, RTq-PCR). Solid expertise in genome editing. Fluency in English - HT is an international research institute.
