Social Worker (Family Advocacy)
Duties**:
- Conduct comprehensive and complex risk assessments, clinical interviews, and psychosocial assessment of children and adults.
- Make treatment recommendations to the multi-disciplinary Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee team.
- Provide therapeutic treatment to victims, offenders and family members of those involved in domestic violence or child abuse or neglect.
- Obtain relevant data from various agencies to compile information and present for a determination of abuse or neglect to the Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee.
- Analyze the information and use professional judgment concerning difficult decisions that may have serious consequences to the child or the family.

**Conditions of Employment**:
- You will be required to provide proof of U. S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315. 19.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Immunization screening is required.
Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
Advanced certification (e. g. , ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential.
The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

**_Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Family Advocacy):_
**Degree**:Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
**In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below**:
**One year of specialized experience which is defined as**: in a family advocacy environment: assessing incidents of abuse, providing counseling to abusers or victims, and developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11)
. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
**Licensure**: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U. S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
**Selective Placement Factor**:This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse.

- This position may be scheduled to transfer to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at a date to be determined in accordance with the provisions of Section 702 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, Public Law 114-328.
The Act directed the DHA to take responsibility for the administration (i. e. , authority, direction, and control) of military treatment facilities beginning 1 Oct 18.
Employees will become DoD employees upon transfer to the DHA.
