We are looking for a Software Architect and Senior Development Engineer to support our Ground Segment software development team.

You will have the opportunity to support the development of an operational data processing, storage and dissemination system for scientific data obtained from satellites.

The system will make use of cloud technologies to ensure it can scale as demand for its services grows.

Starion supported over 80 missions for international and national space agencies, commercial satellite operators, system integrators, satellite manufacturers and other space suppliers.

Tasks and activities The scope of work will include: Working on challenging projects, as one of the key software engineers developing systems for space applications in fields such as ground segment data processing and dissemination, operations preparation and support, and automated monitoring and control of spacecraft.

Participating in the design and development of data processing and analysis software systems for current and future satellite missions for our customers in the European space industry.

Skills and experience The following skills and experience are mandatory: University Degree or equivalent in software engineering or a relevant field.

At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in software engineering.

Understanding of current state-of-the-art of Information Technology, including public and private cloud deployments.

Understanding of data processing systems and related architectures.

Knowledge of Software modelling languages and tools.

Knowledge of object-oriented and service-oriented design techniques.

Coordination of agile teams.

Hands-on experience in the following: Software architecture design Java REST Interfaces Implementation Technologies Microservice architecture Continuous Integration environments using Maven, Jenkins, Nexus and GIT Linux Knowledge of technical document writing – notably, user requirements, design documentation, and test documentation.

A dynamic and proactive attitude, with a strong commitment to the ongoing development and quality of the Starion products.

Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.

Solution-oriented mindset, with customer-focused communication skills.

Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable: Docker and/or Kubernetes configuration and deployment.

Specific space domain knowledge, in particular: Space system engineering and design methodologies ECSS standards CCSDS packet and MO standards Why should you apply?
