The Software Engineer in Test's mission is identifying risk and defects within software components over the whole Software Development Life Cycle in order to ensure and improve their quality.
Based on development experience, knowledge of application patterns and design, Software Engineer in Test is required to write tests for digital applications written by developers: web apps, native application, web services, internal tooling and automation, or voice/conversational interfaces.
SETs are responsible to identify the best tool to be used depending on the application and the specific test to be performed.
SETs are customer advocates who drive to a quality-first approach by understanding end-user expectations.
Hence, they will also liaison and curate the requirements elicitation, documentation and traceability towards the business objectives.
SETs collaborate with Business Owner, Software Developers, other Software Engineer in Test and other team members to contribute understand business and technical requirements and develop automated tests for new features.
The deep knowledge of the applications from an end-user point of view enables Software Engineer in Test to assists in operations support, including providing L3 incident and problem support, and design and maintain real-time reporting to ensure observability and control of the quality metrics (defects, rejection rate, code coverage, time to resolution).
Key accountabilities and decision ownership : • Design and implement acceptance tests for user and technical stories • Test and validate solution against user story and technical story acceptance criteria, leveraging automated tools & practices • Execute automated and manual tests and report defects on product builds • Work closely with development in SCRUM teams to resolve product issues on a daily basis • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to ensure adherence to design quality and coding standards • Identify, record, and monitor testing bugs • Track quality assurance metrics, such as defect density and early life incidents • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities • Manage incidents and problems as level three support Key performance indicators: • Defects Density in production Core competencies, knowledge and experience: • BsC in Computer Science, Engineering or any STEM • At least 3 years in a Development role for Software products or • At least 2 years in a Quality Assurance role for Software products • Preferred Certifications: ISQTB, CAST, SCRUM (any), PMP Must have technical / professional qualifications: • Requirements Management & Traceability • Experience in Automated Testing tools for Web, Cloud and App: one or more among • Defect&Test Mgmt (we're deep in JIRA, but also ALM/Remedy) • Nice To Have: Wireshark or Charles or Fiddler, JMeter, Gherkin structured testing, Accessibility & Usability, UX User Test Vodafone is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the very best people by offering a motivating and inclusive workplace in which talent is truly recognised and rewarded.
