**Job Description**:
**Location: Milan / Flexible
As Solar Engineering Manager_, _you will lead our solar engineering support to the development and construction of our ground mounted solar PV and hybrid solar projects in Italy.
You will be based within the Italian regional team of our _Solar Project Delivery Department_ and be responsible for growing and leading a local team of solar engineers.
Your main focus will be our projects in Italy and you will work closely with the local, project development teams.
However, you will also support projects, engineering operations and R&D internationally as part of a wider international team of engineering managers and engineers.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Leadership, management and development support to a growing team of solar engineers in Italy, including team building, resource planning and recruitment.
- Representing as a principal contact for co-ordination with relevant heads of project development, project delivery and other engineering discipline managers.
- A combination of originating, managing and quality assuring solar and hybrid solar engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle from due diligence and permitting through to construction, covering work by our in-house team, external consultants and EPC contractors.
- Directing the innovation and optimization of solar project engineering to target maximum profitability in combination with minimum HSSE impact.
- Managing team HSSE performance and relevant project HSSE design assessments and reporting.
- Producing engineering specifications for works contractor procurement and supporting supplier engagement, appointment and eventual construction stage planning, monitoring and quality assurance.
- Leading selected internal, international Expert Group Forums
- Supporting strategic projects and the continuous development of our international engineering operations and R&D innovation projects.
**Working in the Solar Project Delivery Department**:
Statkraft's Project Delivery department is responsible for the design and construction of our solar, wind, hydro, storage and new technology plants across all geographies.
Within this department, our regional solar engineering teams are responsible for solar PV plant site investigations, electro-mechanical system design, energy yield analysis, due diligence, works technical specifications and quality assurance across procurement, engineering and construction stages.
As an engineering manager within this department, you will connect, collaborate and innovate with colleagues across technologies, geographies and markets, working with industry-leading digital solutions.
Whether you use your skills to optimise our projects, design tomorrow's renewable energy solutions or develop the leader's of tomorrow, in this role you'll be at the forefront of leading the global shift to renewable energy.
**Qualifications**:
We are looking for a suitably experienced and competent senior engineer who can fulfil the technical aspects of the role.
In addition, we need someone who is passionate, curious, creative and has strong inter-personal, collaboration and communication skills.
Your profile should include:
- Degree level qualification in electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, industrial, energy engineering, physics or other relevant technical discipline;
- Around 10+ years' experience in the energy sector in related roles.
- Around 7+ years' experience in an engineering capacity within the utility-scale solar sector;
- Experience of solar project engineering, procurement and construction stage.
- Advanced user of AutoCAD and PVSyst.
- Experience of team management and staff mentoring.
- Fluent in Italian and English - Spanish fluency is an advantage.
