Sr. Design Technologist, Amazon
DESCRIPTION
Advertising Design Technology is Amazon's custom development and prototyping team for advertisers and agencies.
We focus on the conception, prototyping, and execution of branded custom experiences across Amazon properties.
As a Design Technologist, you will split your time between execution and strategy.
You will contribute to the definition of new ad products, pre-sales prototypes, and custom campaign execution, all while working directly with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Account teams.
You will have a comprehensive understanding of the current state (and future) of web technology with a critical awareness of implications on user-centered design.
You feel comfortable reading, writing, and reviewing vanilla JavaScript both on the client and server, building your own libraries, and creating task automation to speed up development.
You are customer-obsessed, detail-oriented, comfortable working on highly technical teams, and skilled in using data and insights to make decisions.
You feel comfortable writing documentation and handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy.
You are equally passionate about design and development.
You have strong front-end proficiency, are a creative problem solver at the core, and have a keen eye for world-class functional design.
You will bring disruptive ideas for how to conceive, create, and deliver branded shopping experiences for millions of customers worldwide and work across desktop, mobile, Fire tablet, Fire TV, Alexa, Out of Home, and emerging devices.
Key job responsibilities Owning the end-to-end development process and deliverables from a design and technical perspectiveWorking closely with business teams to develop campaign strategy, use cases, and technical requirementsPresenting work to peers, product teams, and executive leadershipDeveloping high-quality scalable and maintainable solutionsPartnering with program and product managers to appropriately identify and assess features for future product offerings

Proven web development experience across multiple devices, web views, and browsersProven ability to simplify complex problems into intuitive and elegant experiencesAbility to deliver functional prototypes on new devicesAbility to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organizationAbility to participate in the full lifecycle of design and development - including ideation, prototyping, development, backwards compatibility, fail-overs, validation, and user-testing

A day in the life Collaborating with Solution Managers and creative teams to prototype concepts for client pitchesDeveloping custom landing pages displayed on Amazon.comCollaborating with Art Directors and Interactive Designers to craft exceptional and achievable campaign experiencesBuilding custom landing pages for FireTV and BrandstoresCreating proofs of concepts for novel ideas such as interactive AR experiences activated through Amazon's mobile appUnlocking a new Amazon touchpoint to be used for Advertising purposesDeveloping internal AI tools BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Considerable experience as a frontend engineer/developer and/or UX EngineerExperience in advanced prototyping with Figma/SketchExcellent written/verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skillsUnderstanding and fluent usage across a broad spectrum of technologies including (but not limited to): Vanilla JS, Typescript, NodeJS, React, Redux, SASS/CSS, WebGL, and Responsive Web DevelopmentCreative Developer: In-depth experience with React, React Spring, Framer Motion, and complex UI animationsUnderstanding of performance, accessibility, and how to mitigate latency issues PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with the AWS Stack and configuration: S3, CloudFront, Lambda, Route 53, IVS, etc. Experience using AWS in production environmentsFamiliarity with digital marketing, advertising, and metrics across the Consumer Packaged Goods marketFamiliarity with creative ideation and brainstorm sessions with internal and external partnersFamiliarity with Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Alexa, Voice Design, WebGL, and creative frontendFamiliarity with using Bash scripting/shell and SSHBS/MS in computer science, technology, design, or equivalent professional experience
