General Job Function:
The Sr Welding Supervisor manages and optimizes welding activities (equipment and personnel) on the shop floor, in order to get the requested quality in the welded products by following the production schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority):
Safety: The Sr Welding Supervisor is responsible to develop an adequate training plan for welders, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and the instructions for a safe use of welding machines and tools.
He/she also coordinates safety-related functions and personnel, ensures welder adherence to safety protocols, and verifies that all equipment is operating within safe limits.
Quality: The Sr Welding Supervisor is responsible for the quality obtained in the welds performed in production.
To achieve the requested quality eliminating reworks and scraps, he/she must ensure that welders are trained as necessary and performing welds according to the applicable Welding Procedure Specification.
The Welding Supervisor must also have the competences needed to critically judge the performance of the materials and processes chosen for the manufacturing of the welded product; in case of poor performance, he/she will provide feedback to the other company functions for the appropriate investigation.
Production: The Welding Supervisor optimizes the variables listed in the Welding Procedure Specification in order to produce the welded work as efficiently as possible.
To this end he/she ensures the timely availability of the required materials, streamlines the sequence of operations, and monitors welder machine settings and performance in order to achieve the highest arc times and deposition rates that can be attained within the limits set by the applicable WPS and quality standard.
To further maximize productivity, the Welding Supervisor will identify and correct poor fitting, over-welding, and other practices that waste materials and produce excessive rework, scrap, work effort, motion and delay time.
Certification needed: IWI or IWE
Expertise: Proven experience of over 5 years as Welding Supervisor in a highly regulated manufacturing environment
English: intermediate
