Staff Software Engineer - API Distribution As a Staff Software Engineer in the API Distribution team, you'll contribute to improving our RESTful APIs services by identifying relevant opportunities in order to optimize performance and reliability.

Our business is mainly focused on selling experiences in the travel industry, and our Engineering team aims to build bullet proof booking engines.

Other than internal API consumers, we also have several partners who integrate our APIs into their systems daily; you can easily understand the audience who consumes our APIs and this role is a key in supporting them, therefore you know the ins and Importante Azienda of what makes a great API experience from a API consumer's and developer's point of view.

Essentially, you are the glue between the Engineering team and several stakeholders within the integration process.

ABOUT THE JOB

This is not an hands-on role, therefore it's not required for you to be involved in programming activities, but you need to be comfortable with these key activities:

Designing monitoring strategies and relevant KPIs in order to assess and improve APIs performance and reliability

Contributing to improve API documentation along with Tech Writers, by mixing automatic doc generation (changelog) and manual intervention when needed (examples and use cases)

Knowing very well what's an ideal API lifecycle, how to ensure backward compatibility on new version release avoiding breaking changes

Elaborating new API design solution by writing very clear and concise technical documentation

Communicating fluently and effectively with our key partners and other TUI Musement Engineering teams

ABOUT YOU

Bachelor's Degree in computer science or relevant experience in the field

Proficient in at least one Backend programming language

Deep knowledge of RESTful API patterns and standards

Previous experience in API design and hands-on development

Very good knowledge of the Open API standard and itsmain integrations with other documentation tools

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)

Redocly, New Relic and Datadog knowledge is considered a plus
