Description In the role of Strategic Environmental Specialist, you will be part of a worldwide sustainability community in the Grid Integration Business Unit, part of Hitachi Energy and Hitachi Group that drives environmental sustainability programs and contributes to the Hitachi Energy and Hitachi Sustainability Goals 2030. The role is part of the global team of Sustainability and HSE function of the Grid Integration Business Unit, an organization of approximately 9, 000 employees working towards a sustainable energy future for all. How you'll make an impact Closely working with cross-functional teams to set organizational targets, and build, share, and deploy environmental initiatives and best practices driving both in factories and projects, overseeing the delivery of strategic initiatives to achieve the targets. Developing and maintaining tools and methodologies that support the environmental sustainability agenda. Consolidating and reporting environmental data and progress towards environmental targets to Corporate. Understanding business needs regarding the environment, to develop materials, tools, documents, processes, trainings, etc. , to enable the business in improving environmental impacts. Guiding the Factories' teams to identify, plan, and implement environmental improvement projects to achieve our environmental goals. Driving quantification and improvement of environmental impact in projects with a value chain mindset building on existing industry standards, guidelines, and data (GHG Protocol, ISO 14040, and others). Supporting the organization in being informed about changes in environmental legislation and external best practices to address environmental impact hot spots and adapt programs accordingly. Supporting the business in any environment-related needs, including tenders, qualifications, internal improvement projects, incidents reporting, investigation, analysis, etc. , directly or involving the subject responsible/subject matter expert in the organization. Supporting in the development and maintenance of environmental management tools and data. Your profile Degree in Environmental Engineering, Business, engineering, or other sustainability-related field. 3-5 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of main carbon and environmental reporting frameworks (GHG Protocol, CDP, ISO 14001, etc. ). Experience/interest in the field of strategic environmental improvement planning and quantification. Proactive attitude towards collaboration and communication, ability to influence stakeholders. Ability to deal with complexity and to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to ensure goals and expectations are clear to stakeholders. Data savviness and a quantitative mindset - Having an eye for details with both numbers and words and a flair for visualization. Fluent in English; any additional language is a plus.
