Student Positions For International Master In Astrophysics And Space Science - Mass
The MASS Consortium (Italy, France, Germany, Serbia) invites applications for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) scholarships and admission to the EMJM programme in Astrophysics and Space Science - MASS.
Application deadline: February 14th, 2025.
Start of the Master course: September 2025.
MASS is an international Masters Course in Astrophysics and Space Science that has been selected by the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master course within the 2021-2027 edition of the Erasmus+ programme.
It covers state-of-the-art research in six main pillars: Gravitation and Cosmology, Stellar Astrophysics, Exoplanets, Astrophysical Techniques, Astrostatistics and Big Data, and Space Science.
The goal of MASS is to optimally train students for PhD programmes, but also for a possible career in the private sector.
The Master course is jointly offered by a Consortium of 4 Universities: Rome Tor Vergata, Belgrade, Bremen, and Côte d'Azur with the participation of several associated partners, including public research institutions, national Space Agencies, small and medium enterprises, and space industries that contribute actively to the programme.
Applications are invited from top-ranked students of any nationality with a certified good knowledge of English, who hold a Bachelor's or equivalent Degree (at least 3 years of studies, 180 credits in the European Credit Transfer System) in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Mathematics, Computing Science, Space Engineering, or closely related fields and satisfy all prerequisites listed on the MASS website.
Students who are expected to obtain their Bachelor's Degree before the end of July 2025 (if they require no visa) or before the end of June 2025 (in case they need a visa to study in Italy) are eligible to apply.
Students selected for participation will carry out their studies in at least 2 and up to 4 of the MASS consortium universities and will be finally awarded a multiple or joint Master Degree, complemented with a Diploma Supplement.
The degree will allow them access to PhD programmes.
Full scholarships are available for the highest ranked among the selected participants.
These are funded by the European Commission following the Erasmus+ scholarship scheme for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master courses.
An additional, EMJM-equivalent scholarship is funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI).
The selection of students is primarily based on excellence.
