No Offer Description The objective of this research activity consists in studying advanced techniques for the beamforming and reconstruction of microwave radar and ultrasound images for biomedical applications.

Considering that radar and ultrasound systems are based on similar working principles, the project aims at providing a novel contribution to the development of multimodal algorithms for breast imaging based on electromagnetic and mechanical waves.

Methods for the improvement of image contrast, noise rejection, and resolution will be studied.

Among these, the research could for example concentrate on algorithms based on the spatial coherence of backscattered signals, and in particular on techniques that could be applied in both fields, possibly including also artificial intelligence methods.

Tests will be carried out on simulated and experimental data (if available), considering scenarios with different complexity.
