Supervisory Firefighter

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Directing the operation of one or more firefighting vehicles and associated equipment of significant complexity to perform firefighting and rescue operations; Applying firefighting techniques to manage fire hazards peculiar to structures with multiple stories or basements, vehicles, large stores or warehouses, and hazardous materials; Reviewing the design, construction, occupancy of buildings and installed fire suppression systems to conduct fire suppression pre-plans and emergency actions plans; Employing hazardous materials emergency response procedures, equipment, identification, and decontamination procedures; Controlling and extinguishing fires and conducting rescue operations in structural fire, hazardous material, confined space response, motor vehicle collision, and other emergencies. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: If you are a dual citizen, please identify the countries of citizenship. The NATO Status of Forces Agreement prohibits employment in the U. S. Civilian Component in a host nation of any person who holds dual citizenship of the U. S. and the host nation. For example: A person who holds both Italian and U. S. citizenship may not be employed in the U. S. Civilian Component in Italy; however, that person is not prohibited by the NATO Status of Forces Agreement from employment in the U. S. Civilian Component in another NATO host nation of which (s)he does not hold citizenship.
At time of appointment, employee is required to be certified by the DoD Firefighter Certification System as Fire Officer I, II & III, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I & II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Incident Commander and possess valid, current license as an Emergency Medical Technician listed in a State or the National Registry (NREMT). Incumbent shall maintain current, valid NREMT-BLS certification throughout employment.
Employee shall participate in a physical fitness program in compliance with NFPA 1583. Subject to overtime and recall. May be assigned to an uncommon work schedule that exceeds a 40-hour work week. This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
