May direct the work of other lower-level professionals in the context of a project, process, or program.

The majority of time is spent overseeing technical design, implementation, or delivery of projects, processes, or programs using technical skills acquired through advanced education or equivalent work experience. Key Responsibilities:Responsible for the engineering and technical operations of the organization and managing or performing research and development. Undertake research, design, and development activities to improve the organization's products and services. Design, construct, test, and operate equipment while ensuring standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met in production processes. Interpret plans, drawings, and specifications; develop and test theories on the properties of materials and ingredients under various conditions. Focus on designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing new or revised production processes for efficient/economical mass production of goods. Design arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure the most efficient and productive layout. Optimize the interconnected components of a manufacturing system, including plant location, personnel workflow/ergonomics, materials logistics, and production process sequence. Conduct tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshoot/solve production problems. Provide guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensure that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. Qualifications/Experience:Work requires a solid understanding of engineering principles, theories, and concepts.

This knowledge is typically acquired through advanced education combined with prior relevant experience. Problem Solving:Problems and issues faced are complicated, but typically are not complex.

Determining solutions may require the understanding of broader sets of issues and requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment.

Makes improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of the area of responsibility. Management & Supervision:Works independently with general supervision.

Work is generally reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and accuracy.
